Welcome to the Election Blog

What's a Synod to do? What's a Bishop for?

The historic pattern of Christianity draws from

  • Jesus and the Twelve (plus the other disciples).
  • Pastor and congregation.
  • Bishop and Synod.
  • Presiding Bishop and Churchwide.
  • The ordained minister and the ministry of the assembly.
  • The witness of the apostolic faith and the body of those living that faith out in the world.

It's a symbiosis - a life lived together. At the heart of the relationship is the intention for each to draw great strength and encouragement from one another. Bonded by the Spirit, marked by the cross of Christ, sent into the world to speak and enact God's grace, mercy, justice and love - the greatest gift of all.

Read the duties of a Bishop in our church. Reflect on the ministry in your location.

What might God be sending us to do - together and individually?
What kind of bishop do we need to accompany us, to lead us, to prod us, to succor us, to comfort us, to inspire us, to rally us together?

You might have more actions in mind for the synod and bishop.

Share your thoughts. Your hopes. Your fears. Your prayers.

Come, Holy Spirit, your people inspire!

You are invited to share your reflections in the comment section below about the leadership and relationships that best serve the synod moving forward.
